The Project
When Tina Winstead took over as Director of the Huntington Memorial Library, she brought in a new energy and a desire to modernize the branding of the library, while also paying homage to the history and traditions of this beloved institution. Tina was in search of a logo that would give the feel of a modern 21st Century library that embraces and promotes the use of technology. The challenge was to produce a clean, contemporary design that also utilized the unique characteristics of the arches of the historic building that houses the library.
Results
Tina Winstead is extremely happy with the re-branding. She believes it reflects her vision and perfectly marries tradition with a modern look and feel. She is committed to updating signage and collateral to include the new branding as budget allows.
Deliverables
I created the logo, letterhead, envelopes, business cards and promotional merchandise items. I provided some additional printed collateral including cards and banners. In addition, I worked closely with the web designer to re-work the website. In the near future, we hope to produce some exterior signage around the library grounds and outdoor spaces, as well as producing retail merchandise. I integrated the initials of the library into a graphic reflecting both the wooden arches that symbolize the buildings history and a streamlined gray and blue palette to emphasize the library’s forward looking focus on technology.
